The first owner of these Essilor glasses with bifocal lenses was probably an Irish lady in her fifties or sixties. Lined bifocals are now regarded outdated but they have certain advantages over progressives. This goes especially for long sighted people. The reason for this is the centrifugal power in the lenses.
