Maria 013

Fun posing by relaxed Maria in Toxy glasses made by Rodenstock half a century ago. Note the opal color on the front of the frame, typical for the early 1960's. In those days, brown or black frames were for brunettes and orange frames were for blondes. Opticians were strict in their advice and few ladies dared to make the opposite choice. One day, a lovely blonde class mate of mine called Anje appeared at school in glasses not unlike the Toxy pair and she was criticized by her peer group. But Anje made a good choice and so did the lady that gave me the Toxy glasses. The opal front mellows the black frame and the effect is quite pleasing to the eye. Nowadays it's regarded quite normal if a blonde girl chooses solid black hipster glasses. The fascinating whims of fashion....
