This striking pair of cat eye bifocals has been a favourite among models since the start of my photography project. Even my life partner Nel chose them during her very first photo shoot, back in 2008, out of curiosity what she would look like in +5 glasses instead of her own minus ten. The frame is a cornerstone in my collection. It really catches everything that set the cat eye style apart from anything that came later. The glasses were probably made long after the heyday of the cat eye style. They were in mint condition and the frame material is different from what was used during the 1950's and early 1960's. The circle shaped reading segments only became widely available in Holland during the early 1970's. The glasses were probably made in the UK where elderly ladies were still sporting cat eye frames in the 1990's. These bifocals are nicknamed "Agatha Christie" as this famous writer used a very similar pair during the 1960's.
