Leah 098

These tiny but striking "Teresa" glasses were acquired in Ireland during the late 1990's. The style is typical for the cat eye era of the mid and late 1950's. However, the frame material looks modern and the glasses are in mint condition so my guess is that they are a remake. Cat eye glasses disappeared from the streets of Holland during the late 1960's when even elderly people were convinced that the style was outdated. In Ireland and the UK, things were different. Many elderly ladies kept to the cat eye style as late as the 1990's.
What always puzzled me about these Teresa glasses is the extremely narrow frame. The glasses were not used in any of my previous photo shoots because of the frame size and the strong prescription for long sight. I brought the glasses back to Ireland with Leah in mind because of her small PD and her interest in anything vintage.
