The first photo sessions were only attended by a handful of spectators but the young Lady of the Tower soon became the focal point of a weekly ritual on the bridges of the Seine. Both advocates and opponents of the tower started gathering around the beautiful young lady and her growing army of photographers. Some opponents joked that the lady's head was bigger than the tower. Her reply was simple but prophetic:
"Gentlemen, within a few months you will all look like dwarfs standing in the shadow of this mighty tower. One day it will be accepted as the symbol of our beloved city and millions of tourists will come to Paris because they heard about our tower"
