Glasses: Metzler, late 1950's

These glasses were an early find at the Waterlooplein flea market in Amsterdam when I was twenty. The ends of the arms are broken so Clare had to put this pair up with great care. The old plastics tend to crumble after forty or fifty years and most glasses from my early days as a collector are now broken. This usually happens at the nose piece. This Metzler pair was featured in five early photo shoots (Clarine 040, Mieke 001, Farishta 462, Nel 222, Lucy 149) and here Clare will probably turn out to be the last model posing in them.
