Clare posing in front of a statue of the legendary Alexander von Humboldt (b 1769 - d 1859) who now is considered to be the first physical geographer ever. He also held the world altitude record in mountain climbing for thirty years. Being a physical geographer and mountain climber myself, it was a great opportunity for me to take this picture, combining fascinations from the past and the present.
