Nicci 014
If a model has a prescription, I always select at least a number of glasses that give her perfect or almost perfect eyesight. Some prescriptions can limit my selection, especially when substantial astigmatism requires cylindrical lenses. This means that the spherical correction, the cylindrical correction and - most difficult of all - the axis of the cylinders has to be correct. Nicci was an easy model in that respect and as a result, a lucky model. She had the opportunity to see well through most of the vintage glasses selected for her. It was fairly easy to select her glasses as half a dozen models with an almost identical prescription posed for me in the past (Mieke, Farishta, Caroline, Lucy, Emilia, Juliette and Sandra). All I had to check was the size of the glasses with Nicci's PD in mind. Plus the frame shape and color, of course. But that has become almost routine after doing about a hundred photo shoots. Pretty much the same way opticians give advice to their clients about frame choice. Sometimes my role is even easier than theirs because of the greater variety in styles in my giant collection.
