You have seen Julia posing in six glasses from the 1970's, three of which have transitions lenses. It's safe to say that these lenses were a hype during the decade following their introduction to the market. From the early 1980's, transition lenses lost much of their popularity but they never disappeared altogether. Nowadays they are mainly used by people with light sensitive eyes.
