After the experiment with the antique pince-nez and face à main, modern times came back and we headed further along the quiet banks of the river Seine. The difference with the busy traffic just twenty meters to the right is amazing. The roads are built seven meters higher and the solid wall ensure an almost prefect protection against the noise.
This photo is included here as it gives a fair impression of the actual light circumstances. Earlier on, my long walk from the hotel to the meeting point took place in a cloud. Conditions were better in the Jardin des Tuileries but here along the banks of the river, the cloud was back and the Eiffel Tower in the background was barely visible.
At this point I recognized the location that caught my attention during the reconnaissance walk. We stopped and out came the pizza box with the glasses.
