Peer group discussion about the aesthetic merits of the Christian Dior glasses.... This gives me some time to go into the history of the glasses. They were a welcome find during the late 1980's at the inexhaustible "Waterlooplein" flea market. The price was quite reasonable: two or three guilders, probably only 0,4% of the price paid by their first owner. The frame has all the hallmarks of the first collection launched by Dior in 1976 but the strange thing is that I have no memories of sightings in the streets. Perhaps it was a frame that did not sell well because of its square shape? Another explanation may be that their first owner was male instead of female. Whatever the reason, the glasses are among the finest pairs in my collection, even by Dior standards.
