Available in at least four different colours, this frame 1156 was an absolute bestseller for Silhouette in the mid 1980's. My collection hosts half a dozen of these frames, if not more. Silhouette is from Austria and they started on a small scale in 1964. They acquired international recognition in the early 1970's and they were arguably the very best by the late 1970's, with Christian Dior as the only serious competitor in their league. A few years ago, the Silhouette company kindly fulfilled my request to put a year of manufacture on two dozen glasses from my collection. All I had to send them was the frame numbers. A gesture well appreciated!
