Most remarkable about these Essel glasses is that their first owner spent a lot of money to get herself a pair of prescription glasses. Half a century ago, glasses were far more expensive than they are now. Also, there was still very much a taboo on girls in glasses in those days. Buying a pair of glasses was delayed until functioning in daily life became a serious problem. The first owner of the Essel glasses must have been a real glasses lover as there was absolutely no medical need for her to get a pair of prescription glasses. Anyway, the Essel glasses are often used by models who enjoy perfect eyesight like Anna. She is the 10th model posing in them, being preceded by Severine who gave them a try on the previous evening. The style of the frame is characteristic for the early 1960's. Larger frames only emerged after the love summer of 1967.
