Anna 004
Twenty years ago, these Rodenstock glasses were kindly given to me by a beautiful blonde lady with mild myopia. This pair was the earliest pair in the box containing all her old glasses. covering a time span of three decades. The generous lady always hated her glasses so it's a small miracle that she did not throw them out many years before I made her acquaintance. It was interesting to check how her myopia slowly progressed over the years. It was minus one in the 1960's and 1970's but by 1985 her prescription had become minus two and when I met her, it was minus three. Amazingly, six years later her prescription was back at -1.50 again. The peak in her myopia coincided with a very difficult time in her life and without any scientific proof, I always felt that the stress in those difficult years must have had an effect on her eyesight. Although hating her glasses, the lady had an excellent taste for frames and she was always among the very first to embrace new styles. These "Toxy" glasses were among the first frames in the style that soon put an end to the cat eye era. The opal front of the black frame was highly popular between 1963 and 1965.
