Working with Monique was a treat. She was well able to follow directions precisely and this "en face" photo is an excellent example. One of my instructions to models posing in strong glasses is "Keep your eyes open". It often happens that the model's reflex is to keep her eyes wide open after the request, but that does not produce a natural expression. Monique was capable to open up her eyes just enough to produce this phenomenal impression of direct eye contact with her photographer. I use the word "impression" as in reality, all Monique could see through the strong lenses was a vague contour of my likeliness. The result is a credible portrait like this. Big, big compliment to Monique!
