The young lady put the mirror away and had a long look at His Lordship.

"May I ask, why did you start collecting glasses? You seem to have collected many years"

"Good question. In my school days I wanted to become an optician but my father would not have any of it. He sent me to university instead. And I started collecting glasses at the flea market as a small compensation for the lost career opportunity"

"May I ask, what's so special about glasses?"

"What I like about glasses is that they create perfect imperfection. Before the 1950's, glasses were unisex and seen as.... well, almost like a wooden leg or false teeth. But then the cat eye glasses arrived and glasses became a fashion accessory to some women. It's a bit double. People wear glasses because they need them for practical reasons. But in my opinion, for many women a well chosen pair of glasses is the icing on the cake. You can put in so many different accents on the same face by changing frames. Just the way a new dress can change the image of a lady"

"And here I am, delaying my first eye test because of vanity... But don't get me wrong, I am really grateful for this opportunity to see what glasses can do for me. Next pair?"
