My collection hosts a couple of Hans Winkel glasses. The pair shown here by Nefeli was acquired in the late 1980's at a street fair in a part of old Amsterdam called "De Jordaan". Two fine pairs of glasses caught my attention and their owner was happy to part with them for a couple of Guilders. One pair was from the very first collection by Christian Dior in 1976. The other pair was this Hans Winkel. Both glasses came from the same owner as the prescription was almost identical. My guess is that she bought the Hans Winkel pair only shortly after the Dior pair for a bit of contrast in her looks. A nice detail about the Hans Winkel glasses is the subtle pink tint in the lenses. Nefeli was amused but also quite interested in the free lecture about the history of glasses that comes with each photo shoot as "Lady behind Crystal Veil".
