The first owner of the Rodenstock glasses shown here by Farishta was an elderly lady from the southern part of my country. A lady in need of bifocals full time at this stage because of her gradually progressing hyperopia. She probably did not need glasses until she was in her forties but all of a sudden it went fast. One does not wish to break any limbs beyond a certain age and my guess is that this explains the extremely low position of the reading segments. No doubt, she had a separate pair of readers for use in a seated position.
