The very end of the 1970's brought yet another surprise for lovers of innovative frames - giant rimless glasses with faceted sides. Here Nicci shows a pair without the expensive facets but with the thick lens sides beveled in two parts under an angle of just over 90 degrees. High index lenses did not exist at the time so even a moderate prescription of minus five meant a lens thickness of a full centimeter. Clients wishing to avoid a "wall of glass" had two options: either the quite expensive faceted sides or the reasonably priced beveled sides.
