Most remarkable about these vintage Essel glasses is the minimal prescription in the lenses (+0.25 for both eyes). Back in the early 1960's, prescription glasses were expensive. My educated guess is that the first owner of the Essel pair was a lady who liked to wear glasses as they gave her a different look. This is fairly common nowadays but back then quite rare. Glasses were only bought and used if they were absolutely necessary. Here lovely Jade gives them a try and it's safe to say that she barely noticed the difference in her eyesight.
