Hans Winkel was an independent designer / optician who had a famous shop at the Rokin in my native Amsterdam during the 1970's. His formula was that the client should leave the choice of frames to the optician. The shop was at a top location and any Dutch celebrities were among his clients. Being a poor student, I had to satisfy myself with periodic checks of hos shop window.
