Julia 015

The mid 1970's will always remain associated with giant frames but in reality, some designers also catered for ladies who preferred smaller frames. Essel Boutique was an excellent example of this counter current in fashion. Most of their frames were innovative in other respects than size. My collection hosts several remarkable Essel glasses. They don't suit every face but if they do, they are great. You can see a good example in my photo shoot with Anna in Paris. The first pair she used in front of the double mirror in the boutique was made by Essel in the early or mid 1970's. Julia will be seen posing in a similar but slightly larger pair by Essel in Germany later in this documentary. Here she poses in a refined pair called Natac. Again, the glasses are fitted with the then newly invented transitions lenses.
