These make-up specs were acquired fifteen years ago, fitted with +2.50 lenses for ladies with perfect eyesight except perhaps presbyopia. In 2009, my life partner Nel and I were about to celebrate the first anniversary of our relation so what about surprising her with a practical present? So I brought these make-up specs from Taiwan to her optician and asked if they could fit the specs with lenses for her reading distance. Sure, no problem. The optician kept her word and the glasses were ready just in time for the anniversary. It was a pleasant surprise to Nel when I gave her this present and she went to the bathroom straightaway for a check. In retrospect, I should have known better. Within weeks I saw her putting on make-up the same way as before, with her nose almost touching the mirror and no specs on. She then confessed that she could not get used to the make-up specs. Impossible to change the routine of a lifetime. A few months later, I started with my weblog and Nel donated the make-up specs to my collection, adding that one or two models might be interested to pose in them.
