Mirjam generally prefers thinner, more subtle frames but she kindly made an exception for these large Rodenstock glasses. Throughout the 1960's and 1970's, Rodenstock had the nice habit to give a girl's name to each new series of frames. In the 1980's this was replaced by two frame categories (stamped L and J, respectively), each of which had serial numbers. The L stood for Lady, aiming at mature buyers. The J stood for Junge Linie (or in English, Young Look). The glasses shown here by Mirjam would have deserved a more appropriate name: SL (for Steamed Lenses) so we decided to try another pair of glasses :). Bye bye, Rodenstock....
