Iris 032
In 1972, a full page advertisement appeared in many magazines, showing the reader that cat eye glasses and the compact glasses from the mid 1960's were definitely "out" and that large frames were the proper style. Six models each showed an old pair (pulling a bored or even desperate face) and a new pair (showing a radiant smile). These green "Quadrette" glasses by Neostyle were among the half dozen examples of the new style. The only annoying thing about the advertisement was that all models were posing in empty frames. Even at this early stage, this struck me as odd but it took me another 37 years until the decision came to set the matter straight - by starting a photography project in which all models would pose in prescription glasses.
