Sandra did a wonderful posing job, taking instructions extremely well. This enabled me to portray her in this series as a lady seeking some privacy with the help of the centrifugal power in the strong + prescription of these vintage cat eye bifocals. Note the circle shaped reading segments. The style of the glasses is late 1950's but they may be a later remake. In the UK and Ireland, cat eye glasses remained quite popular among elderly ladies, long after the younger generation had switched to more modern styles. As late as the 1990's, elderly ladies sporting cat eye glasses could be seen at the south coast of England. Agatha Christie would certainly have given them her approval stamp!
