During the cat eye era (1955 - 1963 in the Netherlands) all amateur photography was in black and white but this portrait of cheerful Sandra is reproduced the way it came out of the camera to show that the frame is a reddish brown. The first glasses of my sister Simone were exactly like this. Most of the vintage cat eye glasses in my collection are now broken beyond repair as the primitive old plastic starts to crumble at the nose piece. The pair shown by Sandra is a notable exception. It was acquired in a bric à brac shop during the 1990's and in perfect shape. The lenses are too weak but fortunately, Sandra was not bothered by the lack of crispness. Good!
