A fine portrait of mother Juliana posing in glasses called "Intrigue Marine", acquired in a Welsh charity shop around the turn of the Millennium. The frame is on the narrow side but this does not produce a dominant effect because of the subtle, discrete colours. The glasses only add a tiny accent to the model's face. The axis of the cylinders in the lenses is just about right. The cylinders themselves are somewhat below the model's actual prescription but it was immediately obvious that Juliana could see better with the glasses than without them. I like this portrait a lot.
