Katie 248 - 249

Blended myodisc (also called Lentilux) lenses were an invention of the early 1980's and a major aesthetic improvement on Formlenti and especially on the traditional myodisc lenses with a circle shaped "bowl". The clearly defined demarcation between circle shaped bowl in the middle and the surrounding carrier lens is replaced by a gradual transition zone. The same technique was already used in the late 1960's when bifocals with a clear demarcation line were replaced by progressive lenses.
Here Katie is showing a pair of Nigura glasses from the mid 1990's, fitted with Lentilux lenses, Rx -19 and -18. Note the immense contrast in both portraits. When seen "en face", the effect of Lentilux is very flattering compared to all alternatives but when seen halfway "en profil", Lentilux lenses give away the position of the mighty strong "bowls".
