Wide eyed Katie posing in bifocals for rather substantial long sight. The glasses were acquired in Wales where the retro style only set in during the mid 1990's. The same goes for Ireland. In the early 1990's I had a relation with a Dublin lady in her late thirites. Maura had a prescription of +8 and it was amazing to see her giant brown eyes behind giant frames - a style that already had become extinct in the Netherlands. Much later in life, Maura had an eye surgery and she told me on the phone that her new glasses were only +1.50. When I asked her, "do you feel relief that your glasses are not strong anymore?" she sighed and said, "I was shocked when I looked at myself in the new glasses.... I look old, with all the wrinkles! With the strong glasses on, I could see no wrinkles at all". Maura was not alone in this. After seeing a few dozen samples of her photo shoot, Katie declared that she preferred the portraits in magnifying glasses to her portraits in strong minus glasses. But let's go back to the minus glasses.... In my opinion, Katie looks great in all prescriptions!
