Katie 022 - 024
These nameless giant glasses were a buy at the inexhaustible "Waterlooplein" flea market in my native Amsterdam during the 1980's. Dégradé lenses were an invention of the early 1970's. The wear and tear of the lenses and frame indicates that the first owner used the glasses full time for many years. This is remarkable as the prescription is only minus one. In the 1970's, minus three was regarded the limit above which full time wear was necessary. Whoever she was, the first owner must have liked these glasses a lot.
The dégradé lenses add a touch of mystery to Katie's beautiful eyes in this wonderful series.
