In the late 1970's, each alternative lens option had its advantages and disadvantages at minus fifteen. The plastic lenses don't show all that many power rings and as stated before, they save a lot of weight. But the extreme thickness of the lenses must have been a major disadvantage for the first owner of the glasses. Small wonder, her next pair was made by Luxotica around 1990 and fitted with high index lenses.
