Juliette 048
After the love summer of 1967, my native Amsterdam gradually became a famous center for the hippie scene and to elderly citizens, it was "amazing what you see walking the streets these days". The quote comes from the late Ronnie Drew who made the acquaintance with pop stars like Jimi Hendrix and Keith Moon after the Dubliners had an international Top Ten hit with "Seven drunken nights". John Lennon was the inspiration for many shortsighted hippies - male and female - when he started wearing his glasses in public. Lennon's frames were round but soon variations emerged like this striking octagonal French frame. Most of the hippies left Amsterdam during the late 1980's. Others stayed and transformed themselves into yuppies. These glasses were a find at the "Waterlooplein" flea market during the second half of the 1980's. Times were when....
Juliette liked this style a lot so here she is, posing great in hippie glasses!
