Bonnie 206
Excellent posing by Bonnie in a simple but interesting pair of glasses called "Sandie". The square shape of the reading segments in these bifocals is unusual. Perhaps it helped the first owner of the glasses when she had to walk down the stairs.
I'm not sure about the age of these glasses. They could be early 1970's and if so, the name on the frame may point to a then famous singer called Sandie Shaw who had a series of international hits in the second half of the 1960's and won the Eurovision song festival with "Puppet on a string". Sandie used to always perform with bare feet and there is a story that this was not a gimmick but done out of necessity. Sandie was quite shortsighted but her PR told her not to wear her glasses on stage. Contact lenses only became widely available in the late 1960's. The story is that Sandie walked along the microphone leads which she only could feel in her bare feet and then she knew where she had to stand on stage. There are only a few of photos of Sandie in glasses - a bold, black frame with a highly unusual shape. I have never seen anybody else wearing those glasses.
