Juliette 277
This beautiful portrait of lovely Juliette in Zenni glasses with a touch of the cat eye look concludes her second photo shoot as "Lady behind crystal veil".
Juliette, it was my pleasure to work with you again! Big compliment for the way you developed yourself as a model in such a short time! Your first photo shoot was good but this one is far better. We already talked about a third photo shoot, in the style of the 1950's and I will try to make arrangements for suitable surroundings - perhaps an indoor shoot in Germany?
Equally important is the relaxed atmosphere of our cooperation. To me, this is a cornerstone under any good photo shoot. Thank you so much and hopefully till next time!

Lovely Juliette posing in the final pair of three dozen Zenni glasses used for this photo shoot. The sweet harmony in this portrait is great.
When this portrait first rolled out on my computer screen, I heard music and that's always a good sign:
"Aaah.... I love the clothes she wears
and the way the sunlight plays upon her head|
(opening lines in "Good Vibrations", a classic international number one hit by the Beach Boys in 1967)

How to deal with another major increase and the switch to myodisc glasses? (11)
"I feel much better now. The first thing I decided was to keep my chin up and look confident. This really helped a lot. But the main thing is that I got my first compliment about my new glasses. The boy from across the street walked up to me and he said, I always liked how you looked in your previous glasses but these new glasses are really magic on you! And you look so confident in them.... I have a girlfriend now and she is wearing glasses but she is always moaning that they are so strong. May I introduce her to you one day and can you please tell her that there is nothing wrong with wearing strong glasses?
I thanked the boy for his sweet compliment and told him that it's fine with me if he introduces me to his girlfriend. When he walked off and looked back from a distance, there was a smile on my face. The first smile on my face since I got these myodisc glasses last week.
My optician told me that I could wear a combination of contact lenses and glasses but only on special occasions. I never trusted contact lenses but it's good to know that there is alternative when I feel nostalgic about my minus eight glasses. Perhaps on a sunny day?"

How to deal with another major increase and the switch to myodisc glasses? (10)
"Yesterday when I got my new glasses, I felt like there was a shadow hanging over me. Today the shadow is gone but I still feel a bit uncertain. There were a few people staring at me. It must have to do with those special lenses in my new glasses. And my field of view is a bit smaller than it was. On the other hand, I can see quite well with my new glasses and the optician told me that I can get my driver's license. I'm happy that this increase only happened in my early twenties and not at school. But guess what? No, I will tell you tomorrow".

How to deal with a giant increase in your prescription? (9)
"Some of my friends asked about my glasses.... I simply said, oh it's only an increase but the main thing is that I could keep the same frame. You know that I always liked this frame very much. And then our talks went into a different direction. But there was one brief talk that really made my day. A schoolboy, the son of my neighbours across the street, stopped when he saw me and guess what? He said, I really like how you look in your new glasses.... they look like crystal.... like a crystal veil. He was a bit shy, just like I was at his age. Perhaps he was practicing how to chat up a girl, but I could feel that he meant what he said. I replied to him, thank you, that's a real sweet compliment. From now on I will call my glasses my crystal veil!"

How to deal with a giant increase in your prescription? (8)
"I will go for a walk and concentrate on what I am seeing with this new prescription.... Everything seems much smaller than it was with my previous prescription but everything is sharp again and that is the main thing. Besides, the people in my street all say hello the way they always do. I really believe that they don't notice the difference. Nobody is staring at me. It was probably a good idea to keep the same familiar frame"

How to deal with a giant increase in your prescription? (7)
Here Juliette shows us her look in the mirror before and after a giant increase in her prescription (from minus eight to minus fourteen).
At first, she thought she heard Paul McCartney singing
"Yesterday
all my troubles seemed so far away
There's a shadow hanging over me
Oh yesterday came suddenly"
This was followed by a wise, rational thought:
"This is quite a change but let's not judge straightaway.
I will have another look tomorrow"

Excellent posing by Juliette in another new arrival from Zenni. To say that these large, blue cat eye glasses are an eye catcher would be an understatement. The colour, shape and size of the frame combine in a splendid way. Any model who chooses these glasses for use in everyday life would make an extraordinary statement. A positive side effect would be that she would never get lost in the dark :). It is to be hoped that these fantastic glasses will remain in stock for a long time. Thank you, Juliette, for choosing them to be used in this photo shoot and of course, for the brilliant way you brought them to life!

[L: -11.00; c-1.25 v / R: -11.50; c-1.25 v]
Here Juliette is posing in another fine example of design and precision work by Zenni. The sides of the frame front have the same vivid decoration as shown earlier with frame 2823. Really eye catching glasses! As an additional bonus, Zenni did some extra work on the standard 1.57 lenses so that the glasses could be folded up neatly for their journey to Europe. The result is an effect not unlike that of a myodisc. The effect is further accentuated by the vivid decoration on the side of the frame front. Some good examples of this combined effect can be seen near the end of my photo shoot with freelance model Beata at Bunratty Castle, near Limerick City in Ireland. The effect is not quite as marked in these portraits of Juliette as we were after a different effect - the play of the sunlight on the model's hair (upper portrait). Mission accomplished!
Juliette 251 - 252
These cat eye glasses are another new arrival so Juliette had the honour of being the first model to pose in them. The frame is nice but not entirely stable. An optician would heat and bend the arms of the glasses and get a perfect fit but alas, these facilities are not at hand in my outdoor shop :). This disadvantage is largely compensated by the way the sunlight catches a part of Juliette's hair while her face remains just out of the direct sunlight. Seeking for effects like this was the main reason to discard the tripod for a few minutes. The lower portrait was taken first. Then Juliette made one small step backward and the effect of the sunlight left nothing to be desired (upper portrait).

[L: -11.00; c-1.25 / R: -11.50; c-1.25]
Juliette posed in these newly arrived cat eye glasses at the very start of this photo shoot. Near the end of the shoot, I decided to take some pictures without the stability of the tripod. Light conditions were gradually changing and there was less shelter from the trees against the direct sunlight.
Juliette 246 - 248
Great posing by Juliette in square, purple Zenni glasses with a peculiar curve in the arms. The upper portrait stands out because of the intensity and directness of the eye contact with the model's photographer. This is one of my favourites in this entire photo shoot, if not my absolute favourite. Feel free to disagree :).
Juliette 242 - 244
Wonderful posing by Juliette in strong, powerful Zenni glasses. The frame is very much present and the lenses are over twice the model's own prescription of minus five but neither of these factors had any negative effect on her natural, credible posing. Again, the expression of the lips is great and the same goes for the wonderful eye contact in the lower portrait.
These glasses were first featured in a brief but epic photo shoot with my climbing partner Marieke who posed in a thin gala dress in mid winter (2012 - 2013) in the snow (second weblog).

Here Juliette is showing another great pair of Zenni glasses with a touch of the cat eye look. The frame is popular among models but so far, nobody chose it for use in their private life. This is fine posing, especially the eye contact with the photographer in the middle portrait.

The design of these glasses is fairly straightforward but Juliette selected them because she liked the funny red decoration on the arms. Another black frame with a slightly higher front and the same red decoration is still available (281021]

During the first section of this photo shoot, Juliette posed in the same cat eye frame but this was fitted with progressive lenses of minus nine. As these cat eye glasses were clearly among the model's favourites, I suggested that she could also try an identical pair with lenses of minus eight. Juliette kindly obliged and I felt on safe ground, having two series available in case anything had happened with the first series. The frame can only be described as a perfect match. Great!
Juliette 229 - 231
This is the purple variant of the black and white frame shown by Juliette in the first part of this photo shoot. The frame is gaining popularity among my models and recently, I ordered it for my partner Nel who feels limited in her frame choice after losing her purple glasses. Zenni does not manufacture progressive lenses above minus ten so I ordered just the empty frame which will then be fitted with progressive -12 lenses by ciliaryblue.
After seeing the results of her photo shoot, Juliette said that this series (especially the upper portrait) is among her top favourites. I can only agree! The tiny little smile is really heartening.
